Fast and Furious 5 Movie Review -- Action and Entertainment Overload!

Potato On-the-Go:

Fast and Furious Five - Rio Heist or simply called Fast Five is a real proof that right formula works perfectly for the action entertainment genre.  Fast Five did not fail in giving what the audience wants to see in the Fast & Furious franchise -- kick-ass action scenes, fantastic stunts, shocking blasts, sexy bodies, boiling testosterones and of course, daredevil race and lots of fabulous cars!

Fast Five tells the story of  former cop Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and his partner ex-convict Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) who is also the brother of his girlfriend Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster). Since Brian and Mia Toretto broke Dom out of jail, they've crossed borders to escape the authorities.

They went to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and made a deal with unlikely allies.  They ought to do one last job in order to gain their freedom. As they gather their topnotch team of  racers, the said allies know their only shot of getting out for good means confronting the dirty businessman who wants them dead. But he's not the only who wants to kill them. Federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson)  was assigned to track down Dom and Brian.  But as his men hunted them in Brazil, Hobbs learns the reality that he can't separate the good guys from the bad. Now, he needs to play with the devil to corner his prey... before someone else runs them down first.

One who wants to enjoy Fast Five need to drop the rules of serious cinema, realism and our principles on law &order.  And Fast and Furious Fans have quickly adapted to the condition and hence the production of Fast Five, the continuation of the urban gangster saga which what most critics said, the best of the franchise ever.

From start to finish, Fast Five pushed the audience to brace their seats for the superb action and death defying stunts exhibited in the movie, with or without the auto machines.  I was particularly impressed with the train scene and the chase at Rio neighborhood.

And we cannot discount the deafening blasts and explosions that boosted many of the action scenes.

And with The Rock as part of the cast, the boiling testosterones triggered by Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, further heated the action flick.  People were like watching a wrestling showdown when Johnson and Diesel engaged in monstrous fight scenes.

And of course, as part of the Fast and Furious tradition, the action and adventure won't be complete without the spicing up of hot babes Jordana Brewster, Gal Gadot and Elsa Pataki.  And as a surprise at the end of the credit roll, two more veluptuous actresses will have a teaser.

Lastly, this movie won't be Fast and Furious without awesome race scenes and handsome cars.  Thanks to the dynamic editing and game changing cinematography that matched the electrifying but perilous stunts and action scenes.

As bonus, the movie is also loaded with wicked sarcasms and pretty badass jokes.

As to my comments, I could say the scenes are magnanimous and too much fantastic that sometimes it can take away the principles of physics and cinematic believability that we know.   For example, I had a hard time marrying logic and enjoyment when the characters were choosing and testing the car to use for their mission.  They just took too much time testing the speed of the car notwithstanding the time element and the urgency of their mission.  Well I guess because the movie is about cars, hence why question logic in screenplay as long as the machines wow the audience.

I like the train scene, don't get me wrong, but like what I just said, it's too spectacular to be carried out  by real human characters in our story.

I for one is guilty on wishing that the characters can actually escape authorities and the civil responsibilities for the offenses they committed.  So I guess, parents and guardians should really be cautious enough in explaining this kind of story to the kids, no matter how they enjoy the film.  There are just too much law violations in the movie and kids may be confused with what are they seeing.  This film is really for the adult and "mature" audience.

Well, the points I raised are just for improvement sake, especially a sequel is likely to take place soon.  Who wouldn't want an entertaining, yet believable, action flick?  Well, I already took a backseat for this movie as I believe that for this particular genre, we just don't have to be too meticulous in the film scrutiny.  I suggest that let's just take the ride and enjoy the movie!  =)

From a scale of 1 to 10 claps, I'm giving Fast Five a 5 + 1 1/2 claps together with loud shouts and cheers!  Directed by Justin Lin and written by Chris Morgan, Fast and Furious Five opens in theaters on May 4.  Fast and Furious Five -- Rio heist is locally distributed by United International Pictures and Solar Entertainment Corporation.
