October 15 is Global Handwashing Day!

Web Announcement:

Do you know that simple handwashing with water and soap can actually save lives?

Procter and Gamble Philippines (P&G) along with its partners UNICEF, the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Play Pilipinas invite everyone to come and celebrate Global Handwashing Day 2011 on October 15. This event, celebrated the world over, reminds everyone to start the healthy habit of proper and frequent handwashing with soap at critical times (before eating or preparing food, after using the toilet and after playing outdoors).

Statistics show that handwashing with soap has been cited as one of the most cost-effective interventions to prevent diarrheal related deaths and disease. In the Philippines, 10,000 die every year from diarrhea. P&G through Safeguard, the official soap partner, and its partners remind everyone that “Clean hands save lives”.

This 2011 marks the 4th anniversary of Global Handwashing Day in the Philippines and this year’s celebration is even bigger and better through a nationwide simultaneous celebration in Manila, Cebu and Davao. P&G through Safeguard invites everyone to join in the festivities and celebrate the simple but life-saving act of handwashing with soap.

The event is open to all! Come and join Global Handwashing Day 2011’s “Pamilya Playtime” celebration, a morning of fun-filled games and activities, followed by a simple fiesta lunch for the whole family. In Manila, P&G invites everyone to Batasan Hills National High School. In Cebu, join the celebration at the Lahug Sports Complex, Lahug City and in Davao, festivities are open to all at Buhangin Gym, Buhangin St. Davao City.
