WWF shares The Tuna Tale

“Tuna!” was all I needed to hear to wake up.

We’ve been wet and cold for 12 hours, looking for Yellowfin tuna. Around us, three other vessels are using their powerful strobe lights to turn night into day. Everyone furiously pumps circular hand-reels, hoping for a bite. The reels are occasionally exchanged for long-handled nets, used to pluck out fast-moving squid lured by the light. It’s a colourful carnival in the middle of the sea.

Splash! The first tuna is landed. It’s a handsome 36-kilogramme Yellowfin, dazed after being pulled up from the depths. Soon, we reel in another. Employing proper techniques, both fish are hauled aboard and gently placed in an ice-box to preserve meat quality. We head back before the sun rises. The night’s fishing is done.

The Journey of Hope Continues in DOLPHIN TALE 2

POTATO ON THE GO NEWS FEED (Movie):

In September 2011, moviegoers were introduced to Winter, the dolphin whose astounding true story was dramatized in the family film “Dolphin Tale.” She had already been something of a local celebrity at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA), the non-profit marine animal rescue facility on the Gulf Coast of Florida. After the release of the movie, however, her fame grew exponentially, as did her impact on CMA, as well as on people the world over who were inspired by her courage and resilience.

Charles Martin Smith, the director of the original film, who returned to write and direct the sequel, Warner Bros.' new family adventure “Dolphin Tale 2,” offers, “I think it was a combination of factors that caused ‘Dolphin Tale’ to resonate with audiences. The idea that a dolphin could have so desperate an injury and lose her tail, and that a team of strangers would rally around her to save her with a first-of-its-kind prosthetic, was so improbable and yet it’s true. And Winter’s own spirit moved people so deeply. So many have come up to me and said how affected they were by the film. I thought we would touch people with ‘Dolphin Tale’; I didn’t realize how much. It has been truly gratifying.”

Reliving and Continuing the Eraserheads Nostalgia in Esquire's September 2014 Issue

POTATO ON THE GO STORY (Music / Magazine):

The Eraserheads music has been my life's musical score in college.  It's in my playlist whether I was home, at a road trip, in school, in our campus publication office, anywhere.  Their songs are the songs that my batch mates and barkada know by heart.  Since college up to now, the moment we hear any of their songs, we usually sing out loud, together and by the heart.

What I like about the Eraserheads music is i'ts unique among its contemporaries.  It's narrative but it has a message to tell.  You just need to dig deep to know what each song means.  For me, I interpreted Overdrive as fulfilling our dreams, Huling El Bimbo as loving in the midst of life's struggles.  Aside from that, the melody captures the soul of our generation, it's as if it became the language for us to express ourselves.  The lyrics reflects the way we think, the way we talk, the way we live.  It's just us - real but poetic.
