Protégé: The Battle For The Big Break’s very first grand champion Krizza Neri is finally reaping the rewards of her talent and hard work as she recently launched her first album!

Her self-titled album consists of 11 tracks including "The Good Daughter", a GMA TV series, theme song "Ba’t di ko ba nasabi?" It was produced by her Protégé mentor Aiza Seguerra and distributed by Universal Records.

JUST AROUND THE CORNER:

Recently, my colleagues and I have been going home from work at around 12 midnight to 1 pm.  Yes, you just read it right.  In fact, call center agents have better situation than us since after their night shift, they can sleep in the morning.  But for us, we still report in the morning.  Oh well, this post is not about by blood draining work life.  

When I go home, I sometimes pass by at convenience stores to buy water or milk or anything refreshing.  That's the least I could to treat myself.

Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure “The Amazing Spider-Man” was shot in 3D, and for the filmmakers, it is a key choice.

“3D isn’t right for every movie, but 3D was made for Spider-Man,” says producer Avi Arad. “It is another way we have of keeping the audience immersed in the storytelling. You see the world through his eyes and you feel like Spider-Man – the exciting moments are even more exciting. But what might be surprising is that 3D makes the intimate moments more intimate as well – I can think of some scenes that are quite emotional that are even more emotional in 3D. MTRCB gives go signal for the airing of the controversial MMK episode on the rape of a minor witnessed and allowed by her own mother

ABS-CBN was finally given the go-signal by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to air the controversial “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode that viewers almost failed to see, the story of a teenage girl who was repeatedly raped, once even at the sight of her own mother. The episode will air this Saturday (June 30).

From the previously obtained X-rating, the ‘Cursed Beauty’ episode was granted by the MTRCB with a rating of 'SPG' or 'strong parental guidance.' The ‘SPG’ rating was given to the show after being thoroughly reviewed by the agency since its June 2 airing was postponed.

WWF, FEU and DENR Forge Alliance to Save the Mindoro Tamaraws

But they're our country's pride.   They are the tamaraws (Bubalus mindorensis) of Mindoro, another proof of the Philippines' rich wildlife and biodiversity.  But while we are proud and happy that these animals still roam the island of Mindoro, we need to do something now as time is fast running out.

Largest of the Philippines’ native land animals, the tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis) is considered by the IUCN as a critically-endangered species.

Just over a century ago, an estimated 10,000 tamaraws grazed and bred throughout the island of Mindoro. But the population has taken severe blows – ranging from a crippling outbreak of Rinderpest in the 1930s to incessant land clearing and trophy hunting. Only about 300 of the wild dwarf buffalo remain – holding out atop the grassy slopes and forest patches of Mts. Iglit, Baco, Aruyan and Calavite in Mindoro.

IMAX Mall of Asia will open 24 hours from June 28 until 2:00 am of July 2 for this Marc Webb blockbuster. In this Spider-Man reboot, Peter Parker tries to unearth the secrets of his past. In order to shed light on his parents’ disappearance, he begins a quest leading him directly to Oscorp and the laboratory of Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner. However, when he is on the brink of uncovering the mystery, Dr. Connor’s alter-ego, The Lizard, appears and wreaks havoc in the City of New York.

The Amazing Spider-Man also takes viewers back to the life of the web-slinging hero before he met Mary Jane Watson. (Bitoy)...we've seen them in Bubble Gang, Hole in the Wall, Yaya & Angelina, Boy Pick-up and a number of movies in the 90s.  While they are together in these shows and films, they've never failed in reinventing themselves as a duo and offering something new to the viewing public.  And this led GMA Network to producing the musical talk show Pare and Pare, a one of its kind in its format, aired over the channel, every Sunday night.  

Last night GMA Network invited yours truly, as well other topnotch lifestyle and entertainment blogs, to the set of Pare and Pare.  And we were able to catch child actress Jillian Ward's guesting in the said show.   But prior to the taping, we had a chance to interview the dynamic duo of Ogie and Bitoy.

The posters act as advertisements for “Rekall” which is a place in the future where people can go to have false memories implanted in their brains to give them the satisfaction of fulfilling fantasies that have actually never physically been experienced. These posters advertise the fact that you can become a soccer superstar, a mixed martial arts champion, a sportscar-riding rich dude or even a ladies' man at Rekall.

The Office's John Krasinski plays the role of a TV Reporter in BIG MIRACLE

John Krasinski, best known to American audiences as Jim Halpert on the hit television show The Office. In Universal’ Pictures ‘Big Miracle he plays Adam Carlson a television reporter who lived in the city at that time, but as an amalgam of small-town news people who served to tell the human elements of the story.

Even though signing on would mean multiple trips between the set of his television series and Anchorage, Krasinski believed it was worth it to work again with director Ken Kwapis. The filmmaker had directed him in License to Wed, as well as many pivotal episodes of The Office. “Ken is a phenomenal person,” commends Krasinski. “He did the pilot of our show and many of the important episodes, including the first time I said ‘I love you’ to Pam. He’s been there emotionally in a lot of stages of my life as an actor, as well as a person growing up in front of the camera. He has that rare gift to be not only in tune with you but also with the whole movie.”

PhilPop Music Festival Keeps OPM Alive and Kicking -- The Next Big Filipino Songwriter to be Named on July 14!

I'll start this post with the question I asked to Mr. Ryan Cayabyab and his consequent answer during the presscon of Philippine Pop Music Festival at Resorts World Manila.  I asked, Mr. C, how's the Filipino music today.  Mr. C answered, "It's very diverse, very creative, buhay na buhay (very alive)!"  And everyone at the venue, including me, applauded Mr. C.'s remark.

While foreign music and performers still flood the airwaves and concert scenes in the country, our very own Filipino music artists strive to keep OPM (Original  Pilipino Music) alive.  Thanks to the Pinoy bands, new breed of musicians and young composers.  But the industry knows that while there are artists who keep the Filipino music alive, they still need a boost from all sectors, hence the birth of the 1st Philippine Popular Music Festival!

Don't  get me wrong.  This post and the poster mentioned in the title is not about any upcoming election.  :)  This is about Warner Bros.' upcoming comedy movie THE CAMPAIGN starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis :) and the release of its two new U.S. posters!

Directed by Jay Roach, “The Campaign” also stars Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott and Katherine LaNasa, with John Lithgow, Dan Aykroyd and Brian Cox. The election comedy bows in the Philippines this August.

Hollywood summer blockbuster season is almost over but before it bids goodbye to movie goers, some studios have released an exciting movie line-up for the month of August!  Here's a list of  what to expect from Walt Disney Studios, Columbia Pictures and Warner Bros.

On August 01, Walt Disney Studios presents BRAVE, an animated family adventure that tells the story of Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) who confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts.  It is set across the rugged and mysterious highlands of Scotland where since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through generations.

JUST AROUND THE CORNER (JATC): 

With my job, long quality sleep / rest has already been a much desired luxury for me. In fact, I even need to plan for it. No kidding, I myself am surprised. Oh well, I guess that already is the reality I have to face each day. With lots of thought and pseudo-planning, I finally came up with a decision -- take a break and get that much needed sleep / rest. After long hours at work (often until 12 midnight!) and several weekends sacrificed, I guess I deserve a day-off on a Monday right? :)  Sometimes you just need that different environment to destress, unwind and recharge.  And it doesn't have to be far or out-of-town.  I'll check-in and sleep in a hotel right here in Manila! 

So I planned for that quest for deep sleep indulgence.  But since I've been nice since birth haha, something much better came up!  I, together with the rest of my Bloggies Jeman Villanueva of Orange Magazine TV, Ruth Floresca of Write Breathe Live, Rod Magaru of The Rod Magaru Show, Myke Soon of Mix of Everything, Enrico Dee of Byahilo, Enzo Luna of Juan Manila, Alex Dizon of Recycle Bin of a Middle Child and John Michael Toress Bueno of Kumagcow just got an invite from Remington Hotel in Resorts World Manila to try their rooms! How could I say no to that right? So without much further ado, I gave my sweet yes and planned for that stay! :)

Due to open in the Philippines early next year, “Django Unchained” boasts of an stellar cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz and Kerry Washington.

With the onset of school classes this June, many students are excited to get back to their classrooms and use their new school supplies and ramp their new uniforms.  Some experts say that this help motivates children go to school.  But do you know that there students in the country, who don't have these things and sacrifice a lot, but are still determined to study? 

One of those less fortunate but admirable children is Rizza Abaño (played by Abby Bautista), an 11-year-old girl who is so motivated to finish her studies even if she has to swim in an open sea just to get to school. Amid the difficulties and even after her elder brother stopped going to school, Rizza remained determined to reach her dream and still believed that poverty is not a hindrance to success.
