POTATO ON THE GO BULLETIN (Theater):
A powerhouse cast is set to dazzle the entire family anew as the county’s accomplished theater performers join forces for the big musical comeback of Trumpets.
Known for producing quality musical productions, Trumpets, Asia’s first professional gospel theater group, is pleased to announce the cast of its most anticipated, brand new musical, “The Bluebird of Happiness”.
The actors who will be part of the magical adventures of the show’s lead characters Mytyl and Tyltyl include Mayen Bustamante-Cadd who plays Mama Tyl, the children’s mother; Lynn Sherman and Robie Zialcita as Tylette and Tylo, their pet cat and dog who are magically given human form to be their companions; Jennifer Villegas-dela Cruz as Berylune, the fairy who starts them on their quest for true happiness; Carla Guevarra-Laforteza as Light who provides illumination to their path; Joy Virata and Steve Cadd as Grandma Tyl and Grandpa Tyl, the children’s grandparents whom they meet in the Land of Memory; Joel Trinidad as Night, the dark villain who plots the children’s failure; and Raymund Concepcion as Father Time, whom they meet in the Land of the Future. Mytyl will be played by Alessa Zialcita and Chimmi Kohchet-Chua. Tyltyl will be played by Anton Posadas and Guido Gatmaytan.
Supporting the cast is a powerful adult ensemble that includes some of the most talented and most reliable actors in the industry who have performed to local and international audiences namely Peachy Atilano, Ems Bolaños Carlos Canlas, Steven Conde, David Shawn Delgado, Pamela Imperial, FJ Jorvina, Amiel Mendoza, Jun Ofrasio, Jay Pangilinan, Noel Rayos, Tracy Santuyo, Mark Tayag, KakkiTeodoro, and Chino Veguillas. A children's ensemble will complete the musical’s approximately 50-strong company.
The show, directed by Jaime del Mundo also boasts of its superlative artistic team composed of Mon Faustino for musical arrangement, Mio Infante for set & costume design, John Batalla for lighting design, Sweet Plantado-Tiongson for vocal direction (also playing Light in some performances), and Nancy Crowe for choreography.
Trumpets’ newest original Filipino musical with book and lyrics by its director and music by Rony Fortich, tells the story of the magical adventure of two poor children and their pursuit of true happiness. It is based on the play by Belgian playwright, Maurice Maeterlinck and will run from September 26 to October 20, 2013 at the Meralco Theater.
