MYX Music Awards Honors OPM and Filipino Artists -- Lea Salonga Receives MYX Magna Award

The country’s no. 1 music channel MYX has once again honored Filipino music (OPM) and artists at this year’s glamorous 80’s themed MYX Music Awards held at the Music Museum, Greenhills, San Juan last Wednesday (March 20).

Much-coveted trophies were given to the deserving winners from 18 various categories while the MYX Magna award was bestowed to the Filipino global artist, Lea Salonga handed by MYX Channel Head Andre Allan Alvarez.

Teen flicks, romantic comedies, chick flicks -- more often than not, they are certified hits among viewers.  But while the masses love them, critics and serious film enthusiasts see them as nothing but sweets with no nutrients.  But in a recent movie I've seen, I realized a sweet teen flick can actually have meaning... can actually provide nourishment, if done right.  I'm talking about GMA Films' recent offering JUST ONE SUMMER starring one of today's most in-demand and hottest love teams Julie Anne San Jose and Elmo Magalona. 

Directed by Mac Alejandre, the film also veteran actors Alice Dixson as Irene Lune – Cuaresma, Cherry Pie Picache as Julie, Joel Torre as Daniel Cuaresma Sr., Boboy Garovillo as Berting and Ms. Gloria Romero as Lola Meding. Completing the powerhouse ensemble are Arkin Magalona, Sheena Halili, Lexi Fernandez, Sef Cadayona, Steven Silva, Diva Montelaba, Benedict Campos, Ken Chan, Joana Marie Tan, Diva Montelaba, Ana Feleo, Mon Confiado, Mega Unciano, Maey Bautista and Betong Sumaya.

Julie Anne San Jose's album zooms to No. 1 in iTunes right after its release

Just hours after it debuted in the online music store iTunes today, August 10, Julie Anne San Jose's self-titled recording album hit the no. 1 spot in the said online multimedia portal, according to an update from GMA Records, the album's producer.

The downloadable version was made available online a day earlier than the album's grand launch tomorrow on Party Pilipinas. The compact disc versions, however, will be available in music stores nationwide beginning next weekend.

There's no doubt, the tweens are ready to dominate the Philippine entertainment landscape!  They've been lording the television and started to penetrate the music scene.  And now, slowly, they have started to conquer even the big screen as well.  And one shining example is the upcoming launching movie of teen superstars Julie Anne San Jose and Elmo Magalona (also known as Julielmo) JUST ONE SUMMER!

GMA Films has recently released the official movie poster of JUST ONE SUMMER.  And for sure, Julielmo fans will surely get even more excited with this romantic comedy film!  The movie opens in theaters on August 15.

There's no stopping the phenomenal popularity of GMA Network's young talents Julie Anne San Jose and Elmo Magalona, also known as Julielmo.  After bagging their own romantic comedy / drama series Together Forever, and eventually getting the viewers' nod, Julie Anne and Elmo this time recorded their duet version of "Girl Be Mine," which is a Francis Magalona composition. The song will be used as one of the soundtracks of their launching movie "Just One Summer," which will hit nationwide theaters beginning August 15.

During the recording session, Elmo and Julie Anne collaborated on how they could give a new "flavor" to the song. Julie Anne helped Elmo out on some tricky second voices, while Elmo guided Julie Anne on some of the melodies since he's more familiar with his dad's song.

GMA Records to release Julie Anne San Jose's first solo recording album

Kapuso pop star and singing sensation Julie Anne San Jose will be launching her first solo recording album on the first week of August (tentatively August 5). The album is entitled “Julie Anne San Jose” and contains 10 tracks (originals and covers). The carrier single of Julie Anne’s album is “I’ll Be There.” The album is under GMA Records.

In connection with the upcoming launch of her new album, a music video of the carrier single was shot last July 4 under the direction of Party Pilipinas co-director Mark Reyes. Julie’s screen partner Elmo Magalona also appeared in the said music video. The music video had its premiere telecast last Sunday on Party Pilipinas. Immediately after it was posted on YouTube, the music video garnered more than 40,000 views! '
